This weekend, the Makos 16u White team played the 16u Blue team in a couple exhibition games as they both get ready for a challenging summer tournament schedule ahead.

The first game, at Lischio Field in N Kingstown was a 9-3 victory for the 16uW team. William Klika (4inn) and Nolan Sion (3inn) pitched extremely well, keeping 16uB batters off balance all game. 16uB pitchers had some command issues throughout the game, but these are things that are bound to happen in the first game of the year. Robbie Costa (2inn), Devyn Vezina (2inn), Cole Poissant (1inn), Matt Silvia (1inn), and Devin Machado (1inn) pitched for the Makos 16uB.

The second game, Sunday at Moses Brown in Providence was a great 9 inning baseball game, resulting in a 2-2 tie. 16uW shortstop Zac Zyons had a good day at the plate, as he led off the game with an inside the park homer to right field. Pitching was fantastic for both teams. Andrew Mosher, Tyler McNamara, Jason Edwards, and Scott Cromack all threw very effectively for the OSM 16uW. Pitching was also excellent for the 16uB team, Tommy Rousseau, Tyler Guevremont, Matt Fortier, Jacob Santos, Chris Cabral, and Noah Hodgkinson all threw very well for the Blue team. Leading the offense for the 16uB team was catcher Cole Poissant and shortstop Sam Budnick.

Tournament play begins next weekend for the 16uB team at the NEBC Summer Solstice, and it begins for the 16uW team the following week with a tournament at Johnson and Wales University.

Overall this was a great weekend of baseball, with everyone on both teams getting at-bats and time on the mound, and a great tune up as our 16u teams get ready for a fun summer ahead.

Best of luck to both teams this summer and GO MAKOS!
